Biden Administration Proposes Transformational Investments in Education
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, the Biden Administration released the fiscal year 2022 budget request for the U.S. Department of Education. The proposed budget includes $102.8 billion in new discretionary budget authority, a 29.8% increase over the fiscal year 2021 enacted level.
According to the proposed budget, the increase in funding would support a range of initiatives, including:
- Expanding access to affordable early childhood and postsecondary education
- Supporting teachers and students
- Strengthening the nation's education system
In a statement released today, Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona said, "This budget reflects the President's unwavering commitment to ensuring that every student in America has access to a world-class education."
