Donna Vekic Wins Biggest Match of Her Career, Ends LuLu Sun’s Wimbledon Dream

Donna Vekic persevered to win the biggest match of her career, coming from behind to defeat LuLu Sun 5-7 6-4 6-1 in Tuesday's first women's singles quarter-final on No1 Court.

The Croatian Vekic, seeded 10th, dropped the first set but rallied to reach the semi-finals at Wimbledon for the first time. She will face either top seed Iga Swiatek or Jule Niemeier for a place in the final.

Sun, the Chinese qualifier, was bidding to become the first player from her country to reach the last four at a Grand Slam since Li Na in 2013.

Vekic will be bidding to reach her second Grand Slam final after finishing runner-up to Swiatek at the 2020 Australian Open.
